    Very variable shrublet to 60 cm tall; lax to intricately muchbranched, 'rigid when old; often subdichotomously branched 'and ending spinosely.
    Ecology :
    Sandy, dry places and roadsides, fields; 1800 m alt. and more (Chad: Tibesti). N Africa; Libya, Egypt; Arabia to Pakistan; Crete, Italy.
